Greener Pastures

Where were you this time last year?

You start seeing the years in blocks of 2013, 2012, 2011 etc. You forget about all the moments that has led up to the present. You reminisce about primary school, high school, or college and wonder how you managed to survive all of it.

Well, look how far you’ve come. Count every accomplishment you’ve made.

In 2014, I had no idea I would be accepted to my dream school. Wouldn’t believe it if you told me I would be moving to New York.

Life can take some unexpected turns, but this doesn’t mean that everything will simply fall on your lap. You need to be the cause that pushes the effect into motion. I’ve worked towards my dream school for three years now and it FINALLY paid off. Dreams are dreams, but when you work towards them, they can become reality.

Let’s kick off the New Year by working towards that goal of yours. No matter how minor or major it is, a goal is a goal.

Aim high. Take it slow. Remember, baby steps. But hey, if you’re an overachiever and all you want to do is succeed, go for it! Let’s be the change we want to see around us.

Riding on the same tangent, this month’s prompt is spreading awareness. If there is a cause that you think has been overlooked, talk about it! Not sure what is out there? Look out for a post regarding volunteering at a soup kitchen. A cause can be anything that requires attention to instil a better society, which is why a post on sexual assault is in the works for KUL.

Let’s do something. Let’s stop whining about the horrible occurrences of the world and be the change.

A good friend told me, the grass is greener where you water it.

All submissions can be sent to contact@thisiskul.com. Happy 2016!
